Yujin Freshwater Fish in Colour, pt. 2 Japanese silver crucian carp or 'ginbuna' (Carassius auratus langsdorfii), presumably in a colour-mutated golden form - or possibly common goldfish (Carassius auratus auratus).
I'm not exactly sure what edition this is supposed to be, since the golden-coloured secret figurine of a "wild goldfish" in the set is so far as I know on the longfinned tetsu-gyo mold (see below), while this unlisted golden colourway is on the short-tailed ginbuna mold. If you have any information on this, I would gladly welcome it. Pictures pending. |
Yujin Aquarium Fish In Colour series 1 common goldfish (Carassius auratus auratus), also known as wakin.
These were originally the colour-mutated form of the wild fish, with no morphological changes caused by selective breeding. Similar colour mutants continue to occur spontaneously in the wild. |
Yujin Freshwater Fish in Colour, pt. 2 17 wild comet goldfish (Carassius auratus ssp.2, var. 'tetsugyo'), normal colourway - 1st paint version shown first, then the 2nd (on the right in the pair portrait). There is a secret golden version, but that I don't have.
This longer-finned form is a naturally occurring morphological mutation within goldfish. Sculpted by KOW. Original finish. |
