Kaiyodo 2003 Glico Aquatales Part 2 22 spiny red gurnard (Chelidonichthys spinosus). These fish have bony plates protecting their heads, and some of the spines in their pectoral fins have formed into finger-like stiff appendages that the fish use to feel for prey animals in the seabed. Bichirs are a primitive type of fish with rectangular scales, a head covered with bony plates, and lungs that open directly into the pharynx. They breathe by partly flattening their bodies with muscles in their torso, then letting it spring back into shape, filling most of their lungs with new air. |

Kaiyodo UHA Dinotales series 1 - Lawson Edition Pt. 2 016b Bothriolepis (canadensis). This is a long-extinct species of placoderm from the Devonian period. Placoderms were among the first jawed fish. Mine is shown going after some molluscs just like the real fish didn't; they were detritivores - my bad.

UHA Kaiyodo Dinotales series 3 - The Chocolasaurs Collection 059 Hemicyclaspis (murchisoni), an extinct, armoured, jawless Devonian cephalaspid. This species, too, likely sifted through bottom mud for food.
