Kaiyodo 2014 Capsule Q Museum Microcosmos 01 Daphnia pulex, world's most common species of water flea and the first crustacean to have its genome sequenced. Half of the model's shell lifts off to reveal organs. Original finish.

So. This one is a 2-kilo relative of your humble pillbug living 2000 meters deep in the ocean, presented here performing a predatory cartwheel. Also, the species is over 160 million years old and is reported to have gone over 5 years without food in captivity. |

Yujin Lobsters and Crabs in Colour set (if from 1st release, with figure number 05) or Takara TOMY A.R.T.S 2009 3-D Capsule Encyclopedia Lobsters and Crabs in Colour set (if from 2nd release of the original Yujin set, in which case its number in the set is 03) Coconut crab (Birgus latro).
I'm unsure which version of the set this one is from; it came with paperwork for both sets. About 1:10; in nature these can grow up to 4 kg in weight and 40 cm in length. They are an entirely terrestrial crab adept at climbing trees (and trashcans). Original finish. Pictures pending. |
Yujin Lobsters and Crabs in Colour set (1st release) 01 Japanese spider crab (Macrocheira kaempferi) male. Around 1:15. These crabs can grow up to 5m long from clawtip to clawtip. They are the largest living arthropod, and can live up to a hundred years apparently.
